Let me preface this entry by saying that Streetlight Records seems like a great establishment with a nice staff.
BUT Streetlight records gig made my balls shrink. The fact that there was absolutely nobody there who gave two shits about us or our music was a little more than depressing. But sometimes that’s life on the indie music road. At least I’ll be able to say (if I’m ever in a position to say it) that I paid my dues and had to actually work for fans and dealt with everything that comes with packing up everything into a Honda civic and travelling across the western US for the love of music. That was a run on sentence. Deal with it.
But I also have to recognize the positive moments of this week of performing in the bay area. I made quite a few new friends and fans. I met really great people. I learned. I EXPERIENCED the flavor of getting out of my safe cocoon and living again. It’s important to connect with others… And sometimes the Internet just doesn’t cut it.
Best of all, I had two REALLY packed shows and my music is resting in the hands of new people. I also met some really cool and interesting people this week (I’m even emailing with a couple of them already). More than anything, the road opens me up to life. It’s magical.
